9/11
9/11 gives readers glimpses of the day the world changed.
The anthology covers the following genres: Excerpt from a novel, speech, letter, journalism, poetry, song, picture, cartoon, and film clip. The audio-recordings, which are all included in the texts, are either authentic or recorded by native Americans.
The contributors to 9/11 have all in their way been affected by the day when America came under attack. Some tell about their whereabouts on that day, others about their feelings then and now, and again others reflect on the political consequences. As can be seen from the different reactions in the texts, 9/11 meant a change of attitudes to life in general to many people.
You will find well-known writers e.g. Ian McEwan, Bonnie Greer, Jonathan Safran Foer, and Lawrence Ferlinghetti as well as less known writers but also stories told by ordinary people, who happened to be close to or inside the World Trade Center.
Songs written shortly after 9/11 emphasize the communal feeling in the USA.
By way of humour the cartoonists express the effect of 9/11 on the ordinary American citizen and on the world.
9/11 will give teacher and students unnerving reports about the day the world changed.
